No Muggle Borns?

Postby Sarah » Tue Jun 08, 2010 2:21 am

I'm interested in joining, but in the rules for applying it said something about no Muggle borns (and non-British, but I don't really mind that part).

Do you mean, no Muggle borns (as in, "both my parents are Muggles but I'm a witch oh wow!") or Muggles ("I have no idea why I'm here since I'm in no way magical but it's cool regardless!")? I just want to clarify, because one of my ideas for a character is Muggle born and it kind of ruins my main plot line for her if no Muggle borns are being admitted.

Just checking. ^_^

P.S.,

No Muggle borns being allowed into Hogwarts would be discrimination, right? :| :)

Hello Sarah!

Now, I'm not a staff member and you'll want to wait for McGonagall to confirm, but that rule means "both my parents are Muggles but I'm a witch oh wow!" Muggleborns. The only reason we had that rule was because there were a significant number of muggleborns, making up a larger percent of the population than they should have. HOWEVER, I believe that rule was put up a while ago, and we have added to our numbers of no-muggle borns since then, and thus I don't know if that has been recently reevaluated.

And of course Muggleborns are still allowed at Hogwarts, else Lily wouldn't be here! Now, how long that will last is another story...

Hi Sarah,

The no muggle-born and no non-British character rule is, as Lily said, in place because we have a lot of muggle-borns in the game, especially concentrated around the school, and they are meant to be quite special and rare. We've put a cap on it for now so there aren't too many -- if they weren't in the minority, the Death Eaters wouldn't be a problem after all! Lily's right, we did make an exception a little while back to let an adult muggle-born into the game (so we'd have a grand total of two outside of Hogwarts!), but we do have quite a lot now and the cap is in place.

And don't worry Lils, your filthy lot kind are safe for now!
